About the event
Each passing election, it feels like our politics only get uglier and the politicians we elect to serve us only grow more selfish and disconnected from the people. As North Dakota has turned into a one-party Republican state, our government has only become more extreme and corrupt. Too many within our government have become too comfortable, and no longer feel like they need to serve the public. The need for a strong opposition party that stands up for ordinary working people has never been more desperately needed.
Our 2025 District Reorganization Convention for Districts 3, 5, 38, and 40 is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 15th at noon at the IBEW Local 714 Hall (125 35th Ave NE, Minot, ND) in northwest Minot. Sen. Josh Boschee, DNC Committeeman Jamie Selzler, and Dem-NPL Executive Director Cheryl Biller will be there to speak with local Democrats. A lunch of chili and knoephla soup will be provided. Anyone who is a resident of District 3, 5, 38, or 40 who shares the ideals of the Dem-NPL is free to attend and participate. There are no party dues or other requirements for participation.
The purpose of our 2025 District Conventions is to elect new leadership for each of the local district organizations in 3, 5, 38, and 40. The leadership of each Dem-NPL district organization is tasked with the important work of organizing fellow Dem-NPLers in the district to help support our candidates up and down the ballot.
Western North Dakota is a very Republican area. But the chaos that the GOP seems on course to wreak over the next 4 years will leave many people looking for an alternative that can bring about a more positive vision for the future. The quality of our government is important, and the work we do through organizing to put forward sensible, common-sense candidates is crucial for our democracy to function.
As the institutions of our Republic are being tested to their limits, keeping sanity and integrity within our local and state government is more important now than ever. The Democratic-NPL needs you. North Dakota needs you. We hope you'll join us in this fight for the soul of our country.
